Bibliography
There is no textbook that covers both the symbolic and
the analytic aspects of fractals and dynamical systems. I will
provide detailed materials and class-notes. The two primary
textbooks will be Devaney's An Introduction to Chaotic
Dynamical Systems and Barnsley's Fractals Everywhere,
kept on reserve at the library. Barnsley will be the required text;
however, both books are slightly more advanced than the level of this
course. We will also be using the software packages MAPLE and
FRACTINT. For motivation the student may examine An Eye for
Fractals, by McGuire.
