Try the Computing Tutorials web page. There
a resources here for basic Unix commands, editors, etc. You can also use any of
the books in MS421 or try entering unix as the keyword in an
online search engine.
Please remember that it is not the system adminstrators job to teach you unix. If the admins aren't busy they probably won't mind answering a question about a command or a simple task. If they are busy they may refer you back to the man pages or some other resource.
