Degree Requirements

In terms of General Education Requirements, many are self-explanatory and allow little flexibility. However, those areas on the degree sheets designated Humanities (H), Natural Sciences (N), and Social and Behavioral Sciences (S) afford more diversity in terms of course selection. The designations are given before the course descriptions in the OSU catalog and schedule books so students may select directly from there. In addition, your adviser will have lists of courses by category.

  1. Under the Social Sciences (S), if you are planning on a business-oriented Math degree, be sure to look at taking some Economics courses. In the same category, for future teachers, you should take some Psychology or Sociology.
  2. Under Natural Sciences (N), you can't take Physics 1014--it will not count towards your requirement.

Other requirements towards graduation include minimum hours required, minimum grade point average, and total hours earned. See your OSU catalog for university-wide requirements, and see section 4 for details on Math courses for majors. As always, if you are confused or uncertain, ask an adviser.
