For Departmental Honors, the Math Department requires twelve
upper-division hours with Honors credit. The student must maintain a
3.5 GPA in these twelve hours as well as an overall GPA of 3.5 to
obtain Departmental Honors. The twelve hours should be distributed as
follows:
- 3 hours from either MATH 4143, Advanced Calculus I; MATH 4153,
Advanced Calculus II; MATH 4613, Modern Algebra I; MATH
5013, Modern Algebra II; or MATH 5023, Advanced Linear
Algebra (automatic honors credit given; see description
below).
- 6 hours from the following groups:
- An Honors section of MATH 3013 or any other upper
division Math course;
- MATH 4143, 4153, 4613, 5013, or any other graduate course
in Math (automatic honors credit given);
- An Honors Contract (described below) in MATH 3013, 3613, 4013,
4023, 4033, 4233, 4283, 4403, 4513, 4553, 4583, 4663, or
4713;
- An Honors section or Honors Contract in any upper
division non-Math course.
- Math 4993, Senior Honors Thesis.
