An Honors Contract is used to add an Honors dimension to a non-Honors course. The contract should introduce new material or allow the student to go into greater depth than normally required in some aspect of the course. A member of the regular teaching faculty must supervise the contract. The Honors Contract does not affect the student's grade in the course, but the student must complete the contract and earn an A or a B in the course in order to obtain Honors credit. The contract should involve about twenty to twenty-five hours of work during the semester, and it must involve a written report.
To initiate an Honors Contract, the student should file the appropriate form with the University Honors Program Office in 509 Edmon Low Library. The deadline is normally the Friday of the third week of the semester.
