Old/New Course Numbers

As of the 1992 Fall semester, all courses in the Math Department have been organized under a new numbering system that provides information on the course level, the Math specialty, and the number of hours, as follows:

 First digit:Level

		0--pre-college (grade but no credit)

		1--Freshman  2--Sophomore  3--Junior

		4--Senior    5--Master's    6--Graduate



Second 2 digits:		
Area of Math specialization (see Appendix B)



Fourth digit:
		 Number of course hours (generally 0 or 3,

		 with 0 being repeatable for a grade and

		 credit)
