Law schools love math majors. Students aiming for law schools need to develop skills in analytical thinking and in communications (reading, writing, and speaking). And majoring in math has proved to be an excellent way to develop the analytical thinking skills that are needed. In some studies, math majors have scored higher than any other group on the LSAT (pre-law) exams.
Many courses at OSU can help you develop communication skills. Courses in Western Civilization, foreign languages, history, literature and philosophy involve reading, writing and critical thinking. Background in accounting (such as ACCTG 2103) or economics can be useful. Classes in statistics or computer science can broaden the range of your analytical courses. Finally, classes like POLSC 2023 and (to a lesser extent) POLSC 3033 will give you a flavor of what a law school course is really like. Be aware that these are only suggestions; there is no one ``right'' way to prepare for law school.
