Closed:Tenured Position in Mathematics Education Available for Fall 2014

The Department of Mathematics at Oklahoma State University (OSU) invites applications for a tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor beginning the fall semester of 2014. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in mathematics education or in the mathematical sciences with a research emphasis in mathematics education. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching at all postsecondary levels, must have experience advising graduate students, and should have a successful record of external funding. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research and publish in undergraduate mathematics education (RUME), provide quality teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses, attract significant research funding, and participate in on-campus interdisciplinary activities and appropriate professional service.

Candidates should be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education; the usual teaching load is 6 hours per week.

Clinical Faculty Positions Available for Fall 2013

We are recruiting for two Clinical Faculty positions as part of the Department's Success in Undergraduate MathematicS (SUMS) initiative. These positions will begin in fall 2013. Clinical Faculty are an integral part of our efforts in teaching and coordinating entry-level mathematics courses.

Lecturer positions

The Department of Mathematics anticipates hiring additional full- or part-time lecturers for the Fall 2014 semester for the Stillwater and Tulsa campuses, contingent on funding and size of enrollment. Lecturers teach classes such as college algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and courses for prospective K-8 teachers. The minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, secondary education with mathematics emphasis/specialization, or a closely related area, as well as prior teaching experience at the secondary or college level. A master’s or doctoral degree in mathematics or mathematics education is preferred. Lecturers teach from one to four classes.  Compensation for the semester is $3200-$3700 per course and depends on qualifications.

Director of Mathematics Learning Success Center Position for Fall 2012

The Department of Mathematics at Oklahoma State University invites applications for the position of Director of the Mathematics Learning Success Center (MLSC). This is a  non-tenure-track faculty position offering an initial three-year appointment with annual review.  Primary duties are to oversee the MLSC, an 8000 square foot tutoring and computer assisted learning center which offers drop-in and scheduled learning resources for mathematics courses ranging from college algebra up through differential equations and linear algebra. The MLSC Director will hire undergraduate coordinators and undergraduate tutors and will develop training programs for new tutors, in coordination with the faculty. The Director will also develop innovative programs to support instruction and enhance student learning and success in mathematics.

Postdoctoral Positions for Fall 2012

The Department of Mathematics of Oklahoma State University invites applications for two temporary postdoctoral positions beginning Fall 2012. Applicants should have completed their Ph. D. within the last five years. These are one-year appointments, which if funding is available, may be renewed for a second year. The duties include research and teaching, with a typical teaching load of 6 hours per semester. Mathematicians with research interests close to those of the permanent faculty may receive preference.

One letter of recommendation should appraise the candidate's teaching abilities. Full consideration will be given to applications received by November 15, 2011. However, we will continue to accept and consider applications until the positions are filled.
